Dr. Harvey earned her PhD from McGill University in History. Her most recent research is funded by a four year grant from FRQSC as part of a team of researchers from UQAM on the project « Le gouvernement de la misère et la citoyenneté : pauvreté, maladie et crime dans l’histoire du Québec. » Last year, she completed a draft of her latest book Montreal ladies and poor children: Conservative benevolence and child charities in a nineteenth century city. She is researching the institution for Montreal youth called the Boys’ Home in terms of risk and from the perspective of citizenship. Another project looks at the elderly in Montreal using the former Montreal House of Industry and Refuge as a focus.
